The HMRC Trader System
For the first time check mobile phones, computer chips and other consumer products against the UK HMRC “Watch List”.
The “Watch List” holds millions of HMRC records of items being “watched” that may potentially have been involved in fraudulent or criminal activity. This list is compiled by the HMRC Nemesis Database system.
If goods you're proposing to buy or sell in the UK are on the HMRC “Watch List” you're at serious risk of entering a potentially fraudulent or criminal transaction. Items that are trade that are on the “Watch List” are flagged up on inspection of VAT returns. This may lead to processing delays or further investigation by the authorities.
